Tasty House, Ashfield

I've been having cravings for Chinese hotpot for a weeks now (at least one week anyway) and today was the day I decided to make a trip to Ashfield to grab all the necessary ingredients for hotpot as well as top up the pantry and fridge with Asian groceries.

Usually when I go to Ashfield, I pretty much always go to Shanghai Night for the Shen Jian Bao (pan fried pork buns) and grilled lamb skewers. After reading about Tasty House on "Street Food" (linked from this blog), I thought I'd give it a try on my next Ashfield visit.

As I was going to have hotpot for dinner and the fact that it was a fairly warm day, I was considering grabbing a rice dish but given the high ratings Street Food blog had for the noodle soup, I succumbed to peer pressure and ordered the crispy skin chicken noodle soup.

Crispy Skin Chicken, Rice Noodle Soup $10.50
The broth was simple but it had a nice homely feel to it and was highly refreshing together with the gai lan (Chinese broccoli). The chicken was rather delicious. The skin was very crispy and the meat juicy and tender. I liked how they gave you the leg part of the chicken (some places charge you extra for the leg part).

It also comes with a sweet chilli dipping sauce (I didn't really need it) and the generic complimentary Chinese tea.

As you can see from the picture, the serving size was huge. A great feed for $10.50.
