Grilled Whole NZ Lemon Sole $12.50
A very good friend of mine got me the book "My Life In France" which is a memoir of Julia Child's life, in particular, focusing on her time in France and how she got into cooking. Now, her first meal in France was sole meuniere (sole dredged in flour, pan-fried in butter and served with the resulting brown sauce and lemon). She said that it completely transformed her world view on food and eating and set her on the path to be one of the most renowned chefs in the world.

Since I visited Vaucluse Ocean Foods today for seafood, and I saw a sign up saying "Grilled Whole NZ Lemon Sole", it made me think of Julia Child and her sole, and I decided to order it for myself. The fish was good, really quite enjoyable. Grilled whole with salt and cracked pepper and lemon. The whole sole was $12.50 so it was good value too I thought.

Calamari Rings $10
As mentioned previously, I love deep fried calamari/squid. Last time, since I had the "salt and pepper calamari" this time I thought I'd try the calamari rings. It was 10 for $10. These weren't bad, lightly crumbed and the calamari itself was decent quality, chewy, springy bouncy nice. It wasn't mind-blowingly fantastic or anything, unlike Julia Child's first meal in France.

All up, $22.50, quite a nice and enjoyable seafood lunch.
