Home: Loving Earth Kale Chips Product Test

Loving Earth

Following all the hype over kale, the new miracle super food, I thought I'd get in on the action as well. There are endless articles promoting the health benefits of kale - think something like Popeye and spinach but the latest fad kind of thing.

Loving Earth Yellow Kale Chips
I forget precisely how much the packet was - from the website, it says $5 and I think that sounds about right. I just remember thinking it was the most expensive packet of chips ever (so of course I went and bought two - the red packet and the yellow packet - had to try out both flavours!)

I wasn't sure what I was expecting. I recall reading an article saying how tasty roasting kale in the oven was and that it came out exactly like potato chips - both texture and flavour except super healthy and good for you.

Inside the Packet
Well these kales chips weren't bad, but taste wise, it was kale all the same. I ate it whilst thinking about the health benefits, but taste wise, it definitely wouldn't be at the top of my list. The Woolworths Macro Organic corn chips for example are absolutely delicious and definitely rank higher.

Given the ridiculously expensive price tag on these chips, and the very average taste, I'd probably only buy these again if I was seriously lacking vegetable goodness and needed to inject some into my system in an easy manner.

At the end of the day, I really do believe in the statement that generally, the better something tastes, the unhealthier and junkier it is. Of course there are a few exceptions to the rule but it seems to hold true for the most part :p (most unfortunate indeed)
